Willis Wimberley Jr. went home to be with the Lord on July 22, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by the family he loved with all his heart.
Willis was born on September 10, 1942, and spent his life showing those around him what it meant to love fiercely, work hard, and always put your family first. He devoted 37 years to Carrier, where he built a career through dedication and honesty. He was never afraid of hard work, and he carried that same work ethic into every part of his life.
When he wasn’t working, you could usually find him doing what he loved most farming, fishing, or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of the outdoors.
To us, though, he was so much more than the things that he enjoyed. He was the one who always showed up, always had a helping hand, and loved without expecting anything in return. He was patient, gentle, dependable, and the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice.
If you knew Willis, you knew his love for Jessie Mae. Together they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and unconditional love. Watching the family they created continue to grow brought him more joy than anything else in this world. Being “Pa” was one of his greatest treasures, and every grandchild and great-grandchild knew just how deeply they were loved.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Jessie Mae Wimberley; his children, Tilda Scott (Gary) and Doug Wimberley; his grandchildren, Monica McDonough (Jason) and Jessica Bagley (TJ); his great-grandchildren, Ava McDonough, Emilee Maze (Logan), Della Jones, and Kobey Jones; his great-great-grandchildren, Noah, Leslie, and Paisley Maze; and his sister, Martha Miller (Bobby).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Lessie Mae Wimberley, and his sisters, Mary Virginia Brown (John), Sarah Ruth Cook (Mack), and Dorothy Hill (Bob).
There are no words big enough to describe the hole his passing leaves in our hearts. While we grieve the loss of the man we loved so dearly, we are incredibly thankful for the life he lived and the memories he gave us. His lessons, his kindness, his laughter, and his love will live on in every one of us.
We will forever cherish every fishing trip, every family gathering, every story, every hug, and every moment we were blessed to spend with him. His greatest legacy isn’t something that can be measured, it is the family he loved so completely and the lives he shaped through his quiet strength and unwavering love.
Visitation with the family will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm and again Sunday, July 26, 2026 from 1:00pm until funeral service time at 2:00pm at Central Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Hillsboro, Tennessee.
Central Funeral Home is honored to serve the Wimberley family. 931-723-7774 www.centralfuneralhome.com
