Voting opened on Sept. 5 for the Levitt AMP Music Series grant, a competitive national program that funds free, family-friendly outdoor concerts across the country.
If selected for the grant, Shelbyville will be the recipient of up to $120,000 to support 30 free concerts over the next three years in Shelbyville’s Riverview District. The Fly Arts Center will serve as lead nonprofit organization, partnered with other community organizations like Cooper Steel and The Center for Family Development.
“This is more than concerts—it’s about creating a safe, vibrant gathering place for our families, boosting local businesses, and celebrating the heart of our community,” said Aaron White, Program Manager of the Levitt AMP Music Series in Shelbyville.
The grant was a topic of discussion at the Shelbyville City Council’s study session on Sept. 2. City Manager Scott Collins told the council members that Shelbyville was selected as one of the top ten applicants for the grant out of over 200 applicants, which means Shelbyville has advanced to Phase 2 of the grant selection process. This phase will be decided by popular vote.
Only one city in Tennessee will receive the grant, and Collins hopes to receive support from surrounding counties.
“You don’t have to be inside the city of Shelbyville to vote,” Collins said. “We’re in the top ten, so the criteria is now which city wants it the most.”

Voting is open from noon on Sept. 5 until 7 p.m. on Sept. 15.
