Tina Kay (Oakley) Patterson, age 63, of Fernandino Beach, FL, passed from this life on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at her residence.

Mrs. Patterson was born in Muncie, IN to her late father John T. and surviving mother, Sharon K. Oakley.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Nick Patterson; her mother, Sharon; her brothers, John G. and Mark L.; two sons, Brian Nicholas and Evan Chase; grandson, Kjan James and granddaughter, Madison Best.

The Oakley family moved from Indiana to Tennessee in 1967. Tina and Nick met in Manchester in July of 1977 and married July 5, 1980. Tina was a Navy wife. Brian was one month old when Nick left for a seven-month cruise in 1982.

Tina was baptized in February 1981 while in Orlando attending University Church of Christ. She has been a devoted Christian ever since.

Tina made the most of things while Nick was at sea. While juggling the responsibilities of a young mother, she put herself through medical assistant training in 1983. In 1987, she was accepted to Norfolk State University where she completed Registered Nursing training. She graduated in 1988 just before Nick left the Navy.

She joined a Pediatric Practice in Herndon, VA in the fall of 1988 where she worked until her cancer diagnosis in 1990. Tina fought the good fight! Tina was diagnosed with brain cancer in January 1990 while being pregnant with her son Evan. She had surgery, radiation, a C-section, and chemotherapy all in the same year, frequently expressing anger with God, understandably as a young woman, but never leaving her faith.

Tina continued being a loving mother, dedicated wife and faithful Christian through all her years. Though her initial prognosis was only 5-7 years, God granted her 36 more years, for which we are all grateful.

Her family moved many times. They lived in Michigan, Tennessee, Florida, Massachusetts, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Reston, VA; Sterling, VA; Parker, CO; Frederick, MD; and lastly Fernandina Beach, FL. As a family, they traveled, camped, celebrated with church and family, cooked, and had many good outings with the boys. She loved and was loved. She will be truly missed.

Visitation will be held Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm with Celebration of Life Services to be held at 2:00pm in the chapel of Central Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Robison officiating.
