Margaret Norris, Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS) Executive Director, will return to her role as a MTAS municipal management consultant after eight years as executive director.
MTAS provides assistance and training to Tennessee municipal officials. Norris was promoted to executive director of MTAS from her role as municipal management consultant in August 2017 after joining MTAS in February 2001.
“We appreciate Margaret for the eight years she served as executive director of MTAS, and the guidance she gave to the agency,” said Dr. Herb Byrd, Vice President of Institute for Public Service. “I understand her decision to return to her first love, serving the municipalities of Tennessee as a consultant.”
Angie Carrier, program manager for municipal management consultants, will serve as interim executive director starting Oct. 1. She joined MTAS in January 2018.
“When Dr. Byrd entrusted me with the responsibility to serve in this interim role, I felt truly honored,” Carrier said. “I am committed to continuing the forward momentum of MTAS and am excited to collaborate with our exceptional team of employees to achieve your goals.”
