On Saturday, Nov. 29, the Metro Moore County Sheriff’s Department posted a press release describing its search for missing man Clyde Farless.
Farless is about 80 years old and suffers from dementia. He was reported missing on Friday, Nov. 28 and was located early the next morning after about 12 hours of search efforts. He was found alive on a steep hill on a Petty Hollow Road property and transported to the hospital.
The Moore County Volunteer Fire and EMS, Bedford County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), Franklin County EMA, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation assisted in the rescue efforts along with volunteers.
The press release is copied below:
On November 28, 025, at 16:12, the Moore County Communications Center received a call of a missing elderly male with dementia, last seen around 14:25, from an address on Petty Hollow Rd. The caller stated the subject was approximately 80 years old and wearing a thin black jacket and black Nike sweatpants. Moore County Sheriff’s Deputies, Moore County Volunteer Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the address and began searching for the missing man, Clyde Farless. Multiple K9s from Moore, Bedford, and Franklin Counties were deployed throughout the night, as well as crews from THP and volunteers, in search of Farless. Around 02:00 on November 29, 2025, the decision was made to scale back the ground search, due to the steep terrain of the area being searched and dense growth of the property, to allow crews to rest, warm up, and re-establish search efforts after daybreak.
Sheriff’s Deputies worked with TBI throughout the night to prepare a Silver Alert for Farless and requested their fixed winged aircraft to fly the area. Around 03:30 the aircraft began searching the area and at 03:50 found a possible heat signature and directed the remaining crew to its location. At 04:07, Farless was found alive, on a steep hill on the property, and removed from the area by emergency crews. He was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
On behalf of Moore County Emergency Services, we would also like to thank Bedford County EMA, Franklin County EMA, THP, TEMA, and TBI for their help in locating Mr. Farless. We would also like to thank the volunteers who brought their equipment, food and drinks, and helped us search all through the night in frigid temperatures.
