On April 28, Will Rogers became the first Coffee County High School (CCHS) student to place at the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC). Rogers placed sixth in the world in Sports and Entertainment Marketing.
DECA’s mission is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. The ICDC was held in Atlanta, Georgia from April 25 to April 28 and was the culmination of DECA’s 2025-2026 academic year. The ICDC drew attendance from 20,000 high school students, businesspersons, and alumni.
CCHS sent four students to ICDC: Rogers, Christian Galindo, Grace Anderson, and Gianna Phan Le. Over the course of four days, these students tested, roleplayed, and networked against over 25,000 students from the United States, Germany, China, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Canada.
To qualify for ICDC, students first had to place at the state level. At DECA’s state competition in February, Galindo placed fifth in Professional Selling, Phan Le and Anderson placed third in Marketing Management, and Rogers placed first in Sports and Entertainment Marketing.
Angela Prater, CCHS’s Career and Technical Education Marketing Teacher, sponsors CCHS’s DECA program.
