The Coffee County Manchester Public Library will return to its regular operating schedule beginning Monday, July 20, as the library continues reopening services and expanding programs following its temporary closure earlier this year.

Located at 1005 Hillsboro Blvd. in Manchester, the library will be open:

  • Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday and Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The library reopened to the public on July 6 after being closed for several weeks this spring due to reported mold-related issues. Since reopening, staff have gradually resumed public programming and plan to continue expanding activities throughout the summer.

Current weekly programs include Storytime for children ages 3 and older at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays and Sippy Cups and Storytime for children ages 3 and younger at 10 a.m. on Thursdays.

The week of July 20 will also feature several activities for children, including:

  • Movie Monday at 2 p.m.
  • Craft Time at 10 a.m. Tuesday
  • Yoga Stories at 4 p.m. Thursday
  • Chess Club at 6 p.m. Thursday
  • Lego League at 10 a.m. Friday

Children’s Librarian Leslie Warren said staff members are encouraged by the community’s response since reopening.

“We have had wonderful participation and I am very excited to continue to see that grow,” Warren said. “We are just excited to welcome everybody back to the community.”

Warren said the library plans to introduce additional youth programs in August while also developing programming for adults. Community outreach services for residents of Kingwood Arms are also expected to resume in early August.

The library is also continuing its Summer Reading Program, encouraging children to read 20 minutes each day through Aug. 2 for a chance to win prizes. Reading logs are available at the library and must be returned by 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3.

Assistant Director Catherine Ezell said the library is taking a gradual approach as it rebuilds its programming schedule.

“We are going to start slow and then slowly ramp up so we can find a sustainable level of programming,” Ezell said.
