Ronda Clanton, Bedford County Assessor of Property, announced her retirement on Tuesday, Dec. 9 after 30 years in her role.
Clanton announced her intention to retire in February at the Bedford County Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Her announcement came a week after she accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Tennessee Association of Assessing Officers (TAAO) on Tuesday, Dec. 2. The award was presented to Clanton based on her years of involvement in the TAAO, serving on its board and policy committee.
According to a Facebook post by Bedford County, the Bedford County Board of Commissioners will appoint an interim assessor of property to serve after Clanton retires until September 2026. In September, an Assessor of Property will be elected to serve until September 2028, finishing the last two years of Clanton’s term. Candidates will be able to file qualifying petitions in early March for the May primary and August general elections.
